Cooking as awareness, not as a diet.
Most recipes begin with a list. These begin with a question: what does your body need right now?
A Pure Rituals recipe is not a plan you have to follow, nor a promise that heals you. It is a meal that belongs to a state of being, to the days when the fire burns low, when everything sits heavy in the belly, when you want to feel light and yet nourished. You follow what fits the moment you are in.
How a recipe is built here
Each recipe opens with a short way in: for which state, for whom. Then the ingredients, then the steps, simple and calm. And at the end, something you will find nowhere else: About the ingredients.
About the Ingredients
You will not find how many calories something has, or which nutrients it holds. You will find why an ingredient is good for the body, in the language Ayurveda has always spoken: in qualities and elements. Warming or cooling. Heavy or light. Moist or dry. The six tastes.
Ginger warms and kindles Agni, not: ginger contains gingerol.
That is the whole difference. Once you begin to read food this way, you start to recognize a logic on your own plate that was always there. It is the same quiet “ah, of course” that runs through everything at Pure Rituals, only this time laid onto the plate.
The Six Collections
Six collections, each one its own way of nourishing.
- Stews & warm meals — the grounding, building dishes; kitchari, dhal, spiced rice, the warm center of the day.
- Warm breakfasts — porridge, rice pudding, warm beginnings to the day.
- Drinks & teas — golden milk, chai, takra; warmth to carry through the day.
- Sweets & rasayana — nourishing sweetness that still stays light.
- Vegetables & sides — roasted things, salads and sauces that round out a meal.
- Made by hand — ghee, paneer, spice blends; the basics you hold in your own hands.
Alongside them, a little spice lore is growing, not a recipe but a reference: what warms, what cools, what goes with what. Coming soon.
How to find your recipe
The recipes are ordered by what your body needs right now, more warmth, more grounding, more lightness, more cooling, and by your dosha, if you know it.
The first recipes are taking shape now. We will begin where Ayurveda itself begins, with the simplest and at the same time most nourishing meal there is.
